Non native speakers of English who wish to pursue business English in college will need to take the TOEFL test first. The TOEFL measures how well non native English speakers can read, write, speak, and listen to English. The test is accepted by colleges all across the country and is an important first step to a college career. In order to be proficient in business English, students must first have an excellent command of the English language.

English classes for business are taken for a variety of career paths. Students who wish to major in Finance, Accounting, or a wide variety of other majors will be taking multiple English courses throughout their college careers. College English courses are quite challenging for native English speakers, who must work very hard to write papers and score well on tests. In order for non native English speakers to excel at college level English courses, they must master the language first. The TOEFL is designed to measure their ability to do just that.

Business English classes are challenging as well and can lead to a degree in a lucrative career path. Students taking these classes must be able to read and write English in a way that conveys their message succinctly. Many students need to take the TOEFL more than once in order to achieve their desired scores and this is perfectly acceptable. The TOEFL is a very comprehensive test and students may take it as often as once a week if they like. Students should realize that no single part of the TOEFL test can be taken on its own; students must take the entire TOEFL test each time they test.

Reading is the chief way many of us learn and college is the pathway to a life of success. Although it can be more difficult for non native English speakers to master English in a business setting, the TOEFL test website offers a wealth of information and tips to help students succeed. Test takers can access practice tests and spend as much time in preparation as is necessary.

Students will be wise to study vocabulary before taking the TOEFL test as this is an important element to all parts of the test. Business English courses, as well as many other college courses will have a great deal of vocabulary words that students must master in order to achieve good grades. Vocabulary is chief ingredient in any language course and students should invest the time and effort to widen their vocabulary in order to achieve success.

GRE Words: The Keys to Success

Communication major dimensions scheme

Learning new GRE words can help you to ace the test as much of the GRE exam is based on vocabulary. While you will find GRE word lists all over the Internet, most of these lists contain little more than the words. Instead, consider working with a vocabulary building program that will teach you every aspect of the words. By taking this approach, you will learn new words every day that you can add to your vocabulary. Not only will this help you to score high on the GRE, it will turn you into a well-read, articulate person that employers will want to hire.

The truth is, we are judged each time we open our mouths and if you haven’t already developed an extensive vocabulary, now is the time to do so. Words that appear on the GRE will not just be familiar to you but you will know exactly what they mean and how they are used. You will be able to quickly and accurately mark the right answers and running out of time won’t be a concern for you.

Many people who think they have an extensive vocabulary find out differently the first time they take a look at a standard GRE word list. They are then shocked to discover they don’t have anywhere near the vocabulary they need to score high on the GRE, not to mention scoring high in the workplace. For the most part, high powered jobs, which come with high powered paychecks are not offered to those with limited vocabularies or to those who can’t spell. Instead, they are offered to the articulate, well-read employees with excellent oral and written communication skills. Thus, not only should you be preparing to learn GRE words; you should also be preparing for your career. Expanding your vocabulary is an important part of that preparation.

Ultimate Vocabulary, an educational software program, has a list of more than 2000 words that appear on GRE tests. Incorporating these words into your everyday vocabulary will ensure that you recognize them when you take the test. Not only will you recognize the words, but after you complete the program of study Ultimate Vocabulary offers, you’ll know how the words are used, and you‘ll have no trouble choosing the right answers on the GRE.

The rewards of increasing your vocabulary aren’t limited to your GRE scores, either. The words and the skills you learn when you use the Ultimate Vocabulary program will stay with you throughout your life and will open doors to higher and more rewarding career achievements.

GRE Verbal Tips for Success

Knowing what to expect on the GRE verbal section will help you to study the right material. Before we go over GRE verbal tips, let’s look at what comprises the verbal section of the GRE test. There are four parts to this section of the GRE: Analogies, sentence completion, antonyms, and reading comprehension. The first 3 parts deal directly with vocabulary questions, while you will need a good vocabulary in order to answer questions regarding reading comprehension as well.

The analogies questions will have you choose a pair of words that are similar to the given pair. So for each question in this section, you will need to know what a great deal of words mean in order to answer correctly. A good rule of thumb to use here is the process of elimination, although since time is your enemy, the best way is to hone your vocabulary so that you will be able to choose the correct set of words quickly.

The same GRE verbal tips are used for the antonym section. Here, you will choose words that are opposite in meaning to the given words so it is imperative that you have a large vocabulary in order to be successful at this section. Again, try to quickly eliminate words that you know to be wrong, but keep an eye on the time as well.

The sentence completion portion of the verbal section may be a little easier because you will be able to use contextual clues to help you select the right words. However, without knowing what the word choices mean, you will likely still be lost. The best advice, therefore, for mastering this section of the GRE is to increase your vocabulary by leaps and bounds.

In addition to increasing your vocabulary, you will want to prepare for the GRE by reading. Read everything you can get your hands on; read books, newspapers, magazines and read a wide variety of subjects as this will help to increase your vocabulary and it will also be good practice for reading comprehension. Thus, the best GRE verbal tips are those that will heighten your vocabulary and reading skills.

Why is vocabulary such a big part of the GRE test? The answer is simple, really. Because vocabulary is a big part of life success. People with expanded vocabularies tend to have better jobs; they earn more money and are more successful in relationships. The fact is that having a good vocabulary will prepare you for many important aspects of your life and will help to ensure your success as well.

Students who engage in online practice TOEFL test activities have a distinct advantage over those who prepare for the TOEFL using a book only. Test takers who visit the official TOEFL website will be able to purchase and take practice tests. Then, they will get instant access to scores and feedback, which will tremendously aid the preparation process. The TOEFL practice tests are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so as long as you have an Internet connection, you can log on and practice. You will have the chance to take the practice tests more than once, which means you will be exposed to a wide variety of questions covering all 4 areas of the test. Students can practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills by taking the practice tests online.

There are also free sample Internet based TOEFL test questions for those who may not wish to purchase the practice tests. While test takers can answer questions and then check their answers, the free sample questions do not include instant scores or feedback. Still, it is a powerful resource to use to prepare for the exam and test takers should also tour the website to become familiar with the dynamics of the test well in advance.

Another online practice TOEFL resource is TOEFL TV. Students can watch TOEFL videos on YouTube and learn from other students and share their own videos as well. This is an excellent resource for the listening and speaking parts of the TOEFL and students are encouraged to take advantage of the TOEFL TV channel on YouTube. It is important to remember that this exam doesn’t just measure one’s knowledge of the English language, but also how well one can use the language, which is a necessary and valuable skill in order to succeed in school and in the workplace.

Students can take advantage of a wide variety of resources to succeed at taking the English as a foreign language exam. Some of these resources are free, while others are fee based. Test takers are also encouraged to hone their vocabulary skills during the preparation phase as every part of the exam is based on English words.

Test takers will also be required to compose an essay that supports an opinion so students should make the effort to view online practice TOEFL essays so they will know what to expect. The TOEFL is a comprehensive test that will take a great deal of preparation for non native English speakers but fortunately, there are a great deal of resources online so that students can prepare for all aspects of the test.

How to Score High on the GRE Test

Comparison of research results on reading spee...
Image via Wikipedia

It is well within your power to score high on the GRE test by preparing ahead of time. While preparation is key in order to be successful at this type of test, there are more than enough resources for you to be able to plan well ahead without having to cram. In fact, cramming at the last minute really won’t be very helpful with this type of test because the required knowledge has to be ingrained and that just can’t happen overnight.

One of the best things you can do to ensure a high score is to take a practice exam at the beginning of your preparation. Make sure the practice exam is recent and not from a book or website that is several years old. Once you take and score your practice test, pay particular attention to those areas where you scored the lowest. Develop a plan at the outset to study the parts you had trouble with.

If you have difficulty with the verbal part of the GRE test, you will likely find that by increasing your vocabulary knowledge you will be able to increase your GRE scores as well. Vocabulary is a large part of the GRE and you can master that section by mastering your vocabulary. If you are not already a voracious reader, start now to become one. Read a wide variety of material to increase your vocabulary and your knowledge. Pay close attention to how well you are retaining what you read. Study with a friend, if possible, and have that friend ask you questions over the material you have read.

Practice analyzing what you are reading, much like the way it is done on the GRE test. Follow the model on the practice test so you can practice that portion. Also, study graded GRE essays and go over them with a keen eye so you can tell which kind of essays earn the high scores and which ones don’t. Practice writing essays on a variety of topics so you will be well prepared when it comes time to write your own essay for the GRE.

Practice doing the math problems on the GRE practice test and note what kind of problems give you the most trouble. Then practice these problems over and over until they seem easy to you. Remember, time is your enemy on test day so even though you may be able to work the math problems, make sure you can work them quickly enough to be able to finish the entire test.

Start now to prepare yourself for the GRE test and develop a study plan that is based on your individual needs. Be sure to include a well rounded study of vocabulary as part of your GRE preparation as much of the GRE is dependent upon your ability to master vocabulary. By building your vocabulary now you can ensure that you will ace that part of the GRE and your newfound knowledge will also serve you well in the future.

Immense yourself in the fascinating world of Vocabulary Building and I am sure you will see that not only is it a fun and rewarding exercise, but also a sure path to succeeding more in life. Studies have shown that if you have a large vocabulary you are more likely to earn more money and be happier than someone with a rather poor grasp of the English language.

Why is this? Think about this, you are judged all the time just on the colour of your teeth! Studies have shown that if you have pearly white teeth, people automatically assume you are wealthier, more attractive, healthier, more social and more  intelligent than someone with discoloured teeth. The exact same philosophy is working in regards to just how articulate you are and how your exact your grammar is.

I have managed to be more succinct with the use of the English language by studying with Ultimate Vocabulary. This revolutionary language program by eReflect has turned my English skills around. I highly recommend this program to anyone that is seeking to be the best they can be and building up your vocabulary is a great step in the right direction.
